Moneymaking Idea #427
When I started MsKitka.com, Zod signed me up with Google AdSense and put a couple of ads on my site. However, it seems to me that the whole profit idea of Google AdSense is just propaganda if you’re not Boing Boing or Slashdot. So, as a new effort I have subscribed to the AdBrite advertising service and my site is now listed as Adult> Magazines, News and Blogs.
I believe this is a good way not only to sell advertising space but also to receive donations. Since AdBrite is free to sign up, it’s not difficult to register and purchase an ad. If anyone does wish to buy adspace, they do not necessarity have to sell a product, they could in fact donate money and provide a link to their blog/vlog/etc. Call it a ‘donations guestbook’.
Until someone comes up with an open way to transfer donations on the Internet (open to sexy sites), we sassy sex bloggers may have to work in creative ways.

Smart move. Can you also just pay to have your name listed as a donor for those folks who do not have a blog? Perhaps people who donate at different levels can be listed accordingly. If people do not want their name up you can list them by an alias. Aliases are fun.

Seska- Those who donate/advertise are the ones who are responsible for what the text ad says. Therefore, if they’d like an alias, they may do that easily. AdBrite would ask them what they want their link and description to say.
When it comes to different levels, the fact is that it’s an ad… so the more you pay the longer your name/alias will be listed. At the moment the price is $5/day or $35/week, so if person A donates/purchases a one-day link, they will only show up on the page for a day while person B who donates/purchases a week-link, will show up for the whole week.
In the end, whether it’s a donation or an advertisement, each one comes from a person. Since I’d like to purchase a DV cam, every little bit counts.
The problem is that many traditional online donation systems will not allow sex-related sites to collect money, so we have to find new ways of doing it. Luckily, AdBrite supports advertising for adult sites so I don’t see any legal problems arising from this method of ‘donation’. Either way, they’re transfering money from someone advertising a site/product to someone who wants to sell advertising on their site…

It is a shame that so many businesses and organizations will not deal with sites that are related to sex and/or porn. Friends of mine worked on a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity but in the end they will not accept the funds because it is coming from a porn site. If you happen to know of any not for profit organizations working for hurricane relief that will accept the funds let me know and I will pass it on.

Seska- That’s a shame… what a waste. I’ll let you know if I hear of a place.
