Yummy Lingerie Promo

A few months ago I wrote a review about the tantalizing online store Yummy Lingerie. I was very pleased with the shop because it was well organized, had sexy pictures advertising the products and the checkout was very simple and smoothe.

The other day I received an e-mail from Koke at Yummy Lingerie and she made me an offer I could not refuse. As of today, Yummy Lingerie will be offering a 10% discount to all MsKitka.com readers and Kitkast viewers.

What do you have to do to get the discount? When you proceed to checkout after selecting the items you wish to purchase, type “MSKITKA” in the coupon code field. A 10% discount will then be issued off the total cost of your purchase.

To visit Yummy Lingerie go to www.yummylingerie.com or click on the banner ad on this site.

Italy Joins the War on Porn

tax

Bad news from the front lines in Italy:

Italian porn stars were up in arms yesterday over plans by Silvio Berlusconi’s government to introduce a tax on their work. The proceeds from the proposed new “porn tax” would go towards paying for working mothers to afford baby-sitters.

The measure - the brainchild of the formerly neo-fascist National Alliance - is due to be voted on in parliament next week. It is contained in the latest draft of Italy’s 2006 budget, which emerged from committee late on Wednesday.

The porn tax would take the form of a 20% levy on the selling price or rental cost of pornographic videos and DVDs. A similar surcharge would be placed on payments for pornographic material delivered by television stations or over the internet.

It’s a good cause to raise money for a babysitting fund, but why does the money have to come from taxing the porn industry? Is Italy trying to say that there is a link between single mothers and porn? Is it the fault of the porn industry that mothers are single?

Of course not. This approach is one that I’ve seen before from conservatives and religious fundamentalists trying to push forth their true agenda. When I attended a conservative convention earlier this year, I noticed during the voting process that there were many unrelated items grouped together. For example, “Tougher punishment for sex offenders and raising the ‘age of consent’ from 14 to 16 and renaming it to ‘age of protection’.” The latter part of the item is usually the more controversial part of the party’s agenda… the part they wish to push forward the most.

However, the way these things are presented is in a kind of “you must want A, so how can you be against B?” strategy. Kind of reminds me of someone holding a gun to my head…

The porn tax in Italy is no different; they are basically claiming that “it is right to want a babysitting allowance for single mothers, so how could you be against porn tax?” The truth is, the allowance is a good idea… but there are other ways to make it work. Have they exhausted all other avenues of thought like taxing item that are bad for your health?

If public opinion on pornography doesn’t change soon in the US, this scenario is inevitable.

Christian Distortions

mainstream

Never underestimate a Christian’s ability to distort facts:

Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff responded strongly today against a lawsuit that aims to dismantle a new state registry that protects children on the Internet. The Attorney General’s Office filed a motion to dismiss a complaint filed November 16 in federal court by the “Free Speech Coalition”-a front for the adult entertainment industry-challenging the constitutionality of Utah’s Child Protection Registry law.

“This lawsuit shows the pornographers true colors. They claim a ’right’ to market porn to adults, but by challenging our Child Protection Registry, they have proven their real intent to force smut on our children in our homes and schools,” says Shurtleff. “The state of Utah will vigorously defend the fundamental right of parents to keep porn out of their homes. The First Amendment does not allow pornographers to send materials to kids and parents who have expressly asked not to receive them.”

Utah’s Child Protection Registry went into effect on July 15, 2005. If an e-mail address has been registered for 30 days, the law forbids sending an electronic message that “advertises a product or service that a minor is prohibited by law from purchasing; or…contains or advertises material that is harmful to minors.” (http://www.le.state.ut.us/~code/TITLE13/13_26.htm)

So apparently, as per this Christian News and Media Agency, pornographers intend to force smut onto children.

Does this mean, then, that if you block a child’s address from these adult web sites that they will still be blocked until they reach a certain age? Does the un-blocking occur on the said child’s eighteenth birthday or is this something that has to be done manually? If it does have to be done manually, is it up to the parents to un-block the content? If so, how many parents would actually do this?

Why are Christians so concerned with pornography when there is so much more to be afraid of in this world? Perhaps they should support peace as much as the current Prime Minister of Canada who wishes to ban handguns. Just as it shouldn’t be considered anyone’s “God given right” to usurp all the natural gas resources on their Hummer, it should neither be anyone’s right to bear arms… especially if it causes danger to children.

Sure, you might be thinking “what is the harm in these Christian writers saying what they please?” Well, the problem is simple; mainstream media is refusing to speak out against the distorted news stories. The absence of editorials about how the religious right is distorting reality in order to push forward their agenda is giving credibility to those who should not be renowned as a valid news agency.

Now, I can understand why the American mainstream media might refrain from writing about the treachery of the President of the United States, but why aren’t they writing about the growing problem of misleading stories from Christian-run news agencies? Are they afraid of writing bad reviews of other media sources for fear of being discredited in return?

I’m sick of seeing newspapers publish editorials that are obviously written with an agenda in mind. How can we continue to trust mainstream media when they publish such utter rubbish? I challenge someone ‘credible’ to step up to the plate and write a story on this subject… it seems the only one willing to do something these days would be John Stewart, and he admits himself to be a comedian, not a reporter.

Ebay Pulls the Plug on Porn Company Sale

ebay

The porn company that put itself up for sale on eBay last week has been removed from the site.

On Wednesday afternoon, the eBay entry showed that there had been four bids made for ownership of the company, but one of the bids had been retracted. The explanation for the retraction was that the user was unable to contact the seller. This may have sparked some investigation into the seller since the seller had no reputation for selling on eBay before.

The bidding should have ended on Thursday night, but by Wednesday evening eBay had removed the item from their site. A detailed explanation was not offered on the site.

The Kitkast Boutique

KITKAlendar

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have the honour to announce the grand opening of the brand new Kitkast Boutique at cafepress.com.

In an effort to raise money to try and improve the quality of Kitkast by purchasing new equipment (as discussed in a previous post), I have started selling a 12-month wall calendar entitled KITKAlendar 2006. I hope that the money raised through the sale of calendars will contribute to the cost of buying a digital video camera.

I have been incredibly fortunate this week in producing the calendar because I received an e-mail from David Ewing, photographer from Australia and Kitkast viewer. When I mentioned the calendar to him in an e-mail, David jumped on board and volunteered to touch up the images for me. Even though I had a strict deadline, he still helped me out and sent me the edited photos very quickly.

Although the only product on sale at the Kitkast Boutique is the 12-month wall calendar, there will be more products in due course. I have a few t-shirt design ideas that will be available soon. Information on future products at the Kitkast Boutique will be announced here at mskitka.com.
