DD News or DD Breasts
If a TV station in North America screwed up like this, I would start watching network news again:
Viewers tuning in for the evening news in India were shocked when they were left watching a Russian porn movie.
Angry residents in Kailaras, who wanted to watch an English-language news report, blame the mix-up on technicians from the Kailaras relay station.
They believe the workers had been using the station’s facilities to watch XXX films broadcast from Russia.
Hundreds of locals took to the streets afterwards demanding the technicians be sacked.
Beautiful…
Instead of seeing DD-1 News, everyone watching around 8pm was watching porn for several minutes. So, what’s the big deal? Why did people feel the need to “take to the streets” to demand anything? Oh, I’m sorry, perhaps I neglected to mention, porn is illegal in India:
Under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), “any material which tends to deprave and corrupt persons who view it,” is pornography. According to the law, if caught purchasing, sending, publishing or creating pornography, one is in for at least a two-year jail sentence and/or a minimum Rs 2,000 fine.
It’s a shame that this happened at 8pm, a time when children are still trying to convince their parents that they are not yet sleepy. Other than that, I don’t see anything so horrible about it. I wonder how upset people would have been if this had happened around 11pm… would they be taking to the streets or unzipping their trousers to choke the chicken… I’ll wager on the latter.
With the US war on porn raging on, I often forget that there are countries besides the US that have criminalized pornography first. But, then again, I often forget that there was pornography even before the San Fernando Valley was discovered… remember the Kama Sutra?
