Stripper, Porn Star or Prostitute?

gangbang

Tales from a St. John’s, Newfoundland, strip club:

A strip club in St. John’s has been fined $6,000 on two charges of violating an obscure part of the Criminal Code. Bubbles Gentlemen’s Club was charged in April with violating section 167 of the Criminal Code, which deals with what’s called “immoral theatrical performance.”

Montreal stripper Marie-Andrée Lauriault – who works under the stage name Tangerine Dream – performed explicit shows using sex toys in February and April. Lauriault was also charged after the performances, but the charges against her with withdrawn.

Bob Simmonds, a St. John’s lawyer who represented Lauriault, said earlier this year it is rare for anyone to be charged with “immoral theatrical performance.”

In the last Tangerine Dream show, Lauriault attempted to set what she called a “gang-bang record.” Witnesses said 177 men and women lined up along the Bubbles stage to penetrate Lauriault with a sex toy.

Wait a minute… did this happen at a strip club? Did these 177 men have to pay to contribute to the record or was it volunteer? Honestly, sometimes the news is too brief on interesting articles such as this.

The strange thing about this article is that the title is “Strip club fined over sex-toy performances”, but I think the most shocking part of the story is the fact that the last Tangerine Dream show was a huge gangbang! (I wonder if it was sponsored by KY…).

Honestly, who cares about a few measly sex toys when the strip club hosted a gangbang?

This CBC article is actually very badly written… it’s missing so much information. Besides being a stripper in St. John’s, Tangerine Dream is also a former porn actress. Did the CBC bother doing any background research on this? Apparently not. Still, I’m intrigued to hear more details…

Update: Charges on the St. John’s strip club and Ms. Lauriault have been dropped. However, owners of the strip club must pay a fine of $7,500. (Link: www.cbc.ca)

I have met Tangerine a few times. She has done similar performances in other provinces including here in Quebec where she is from, but she was never stopped here. She also used to own a strip club. It had a cool night club atmosphere with club music instead of the typical songs chosen by performers. When the gals went to give lap dances they did it by a timer on their vibrating pager. Interesting concept.

Lap dancing with vibrating pagers… wait a minute - is there something else going on here? Please dial 1-888-huh-what?

Understanding the nature of the topic at hand, the cbc, being a “tame” news source was probably not comfortable with providing more details than what was mentioned. You have the right to know - kinda - as long as it’s not them who offers the info. After all - can you really expect great sex news from a station which aired Sesame Street AND Fraggle Rock.

    That’s what I thought. Booyaa.

    Hi Kitka!

I don`t see what these people saw as a problem. If all people involved were willing participants , there surely wasn`t a problem!
Sometimes, actually, quite often in the US these days, the law is an ass.
This sounds like one of these occasions.
    Good post KItka.

maybe it’s just the angle of the picture, but Tangerine Dream looks a little square in the jaw & pronounced in the lower forehead… are you sure she wasn’t doing the penetrating ;)

Seska- That IS an interesting concept… vibrating pagers. I wish someone opened a club with all old music… I’m sick of going to strip clubs and listening to new top 40 hits… or hits from the past few years. I guess what I REALLY want is a strip/burlesque club… like a burlesque club with grindy, flirty lap dances… ahh… and COSTUMES… all girls should have sexy costumes instead of just lingerie. I want to see a Barbarella and a Seven of Nine and a sexy nurse and a …. oh man, that would be heaven…

Bigbie- You’re right, perhaps CBC just wanted to be tame… but I’m just not convinced. Why would they mention a 177-man gangbang but leave out details as to whether the gangbang occured at the strip club, whether the men paid to be in the gangbang and whether Tangerine was a former porn star? The article is already filled with vocabulary that wouldn’t be taught on Sesame Street, so why didn’t they do more research to write a better more complete story?

Zeppellina- Actually, this took place in Canada (Newfoundland)… but you’re right… consenting adults should have the right to do what they please.

    Zawm- Shame on you…

Zawm I thought the same thing.

I have a few pictures of myself and Tangerine Dream. What’s her website now? I’m a fan! (female!)
