Film Review: Pirates
There has been a lot of talk in the past month about the new Digital Playground release Pirates starring Jesse Jane, so here are my two cents on what I thought of the film.
The first thing that stuck out at me when watching the film was that the production value was amazing. There have been too many times when I’ve rented porn and regretted getting a certain film because (although the cover photos are nice and professional) the film quality is a giant wad of stinking elephant cum. This film not only had great film quality (shot completely in HD), but the CGI effects they used weren’t too bad either. The CGI used in the film was about the same quality as a Sci Fi Channel made-for-TV miniseries.
One of the great things about this film is that instead of fast-forwarding through the story, we actually wanted to see what happened. The acting was actually quite enjoyable… it almost felt like watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The comedy in this film was so witty and entertaining; the time the writers took to write the story was probably proportionate to the time they took to write the actual sex scenes.
The sex scenes were very well paced. The camera work never focused too long on one shot, so it left the viewer enticed, but never bored or hungry for a change of camera angle. The only thing I would have added to the film’s sex scenes in order to make it a better porn flick (in my eyes) is a gangbang or a big orgy finale scene. The film was quite heterosexual: 1 man and 1 woman; 2 women, and; 1 man and 2 women. That said, my favorite sex scenes in the film were the threesome between the Captain and the two whores and the lesbian scene between Isabella and the wench at the pirate bachelor party.
Pirates is one of the best produced porn films I’ve ever seen and I really look forward to seeing more. The sex scenes in this film are believable and I wouldn’t be opposed if Hollywood wants to back films of this type for release in movie theatres as Rated R.
I give it 4.5/5 stars.
