[...] Well, it looks like Thailand thinks so. It’s been just over a month since President Bush declared a war on porn and now the Prime Minister of Thailand is jumping off the cliff to follow him: At long last, social problems are gaining the attention of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Speaking on his weekly ‘’Meet the People'’ radio programme last Saturday, the prime minister said he would launch a ‘’D-Day'’ against social problems on Dec 1. The month-long campaign will target pornographic materials now available in shops, roadside stalls and on the Internet. Internet cafes which promote online gambling and sexual encounters will also be eliminated. [...]

[...] Hello, everyone. This is War on Pornography Correspondent Mr. Penis, here on the front-lines. Just yesterday the Bush Administration sprayed the first (no-cum-)shots all over the Suicide Girls. Xeni Jardin: Boing Boing reader Chuck says, Apparently, [U.S. Attorney General] Gonzalez’s War on Porn has affected one of your sponsers. SuicideGirls.com has started taking down ‘questionable’ pictures and sets that they think the FBI would have a problem with. Bambi’s Bathroom Beauty set is one good example of this. So much for freedom of speech. BB Reader Jeff Fries seconds that emotion, and says: SuicideGirls admin Olivia started pulling photosets that the new FBI porn crackdown team has deemed offensive. Since, as you know, SG has always been as artistic as it has been pornographic, it’s doubly egregious. This is a stupid crock of shit that has made everyone mad. Link. Now, it seems the Bush Administration and I share a common policy; sticking it to women. But when it’s the Suicide Girls that are being stuck, and I ain’t doing the sticking, well, I get large with angry … and you wouldn’t want to see me when I’m angry!
Per your cited Washington Post article (which is hilarious), the following jumped out at me:

"But Gonzales endorses the rationale of predecessor Meese: that adult pornography is a threat to families and children. Christian conservatives, long skeptical of Gonzales, greeted the pornography initiative with what the Family Research Council called "a growing sense of confidence in our new attorney general.""

Aha. Stirring up the Christian Base. Sounds like the war-drums of 2006 are starting to echo softly across the land.

I wonder if 2006 is going to be The Great Christian Base Crusade and Tent Revival. We had Terry Schiavo, now we'll have Abortion, Gay Marrage, per your other post "decent" Sex Education, and now, a Porn crusade.

Rove, Rove, Rove your boat, gently down the stream...
