A time for reform…

Man… I wish I had a teacher like this back when I was in high school:

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (UPI) — An eighth-grade Danish schoolteacher, who showed a 10-minute film clip of two adults having oral sex, has been reported to police.

The teacher, who was teaching a class in sex education on sexuality and puberty, is reported to have also shown her students pictures from a pornographic magazine, according to the Frederiksborg Amts Avis newspaper.

The teacher, whose name has not been made public, has been removed as a sex education teacher, but some parents want the teacher removed permanently from the school because students say she continues to mention sexual issues in other subjects she teaches, reported the Copenhagen Post Sunday.

The school`s principal had reprimanded the teacher immediately after the incident — not for showing the adult material, but because it could be considered a copyright violation.

Beautiful last sentence… how ironic.

Perhaps the teacher went a little far by showing the porn to teenagers, but it does make some sense when you think of it. What could demonstrate oral sex and vaginal penetration better than watching it on a television screen? Can you imagine how difficult it must be to teach sex-ed, let alone attempt to describe what oral sex is without showing it to the class? I was almost sick to my stomach in Grade 9 because I was forced to sit and watch a woman give birth to a baby… it was messy, revolting and looked painful as hell. Why not allow the same teens to watch short scenes of sexual penetration in order to help them better understand the function of sex? Instead of simply preaching abstinence, perhaps schools should reform the sex education system by including both the sexual penetration and the birth processes. Showing both the cause and the effect are ways to make sex less tantalizing… and by including graphic images showing/describing the physical effects of STDs this could better educate children from young ages to use protection and to be more cautious.

The majority of children learn about sex from porn anyways… whether it be shown by a high school sex-ed teacher or by finding it on the Internet or in one of their relative’s secret hiding places. I remember when this boy I used to babysit first learnt about sex… his mother told me that one of his friends typed ’sex’ on google.com and they visited some porn sites… after that, the boy started to understand what it was all about and asked his mother some questions so he could work out the details in his mind. In fact, I myself only started to understand sex when I saw my first scrambled porn film called ‘Sinderella’ back in the early-mid 90s. Before that moment, sex was just diagrams to me.

Sex is nothing to be ashamed of and should be discussed with your children… one should always be open to talking with their child about sex and not scolding them for being curious. Parents should be more responsible, but less restrictive… the problem is that parents are afraid to address the issue.
